Brad England is enjoying a sustained run in the Dons side after overcoming his injury problems to become an integral part of Gary Thornton’s plans.

The 22-year-old missed the whole of last season with a serious knee injury but feels he is getting back to his best in the early stages of this campaign.

“I’ve still got a lot to show, I had a bad injury and had to take a year off but I feel my fitness is improving all the time,” he said.

“My aim is to do as much as I can for the team, I want to play to my full potential for as long as I can as I feel my confidence will build with that.

“We’ve got a lot of new players and we’re all still bonding with each other, but I don’t think we’re far off where we need to be.”

The Dons were held to a 28-28 draw by London Skolars at the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday and England felt it was a missed opportunity to take two points.

“It’s really disappointing, we put a lot of effort into being ahead in that first half and that probably went against us after half time,” he added.

“We spoke a lot in training about pushing on from the Leeds game and I think we did that in the opening 40, we worked really hard to get the lead but couldn’t hold on to it.

“We were a bit complacent in the opening parts of the second half, maybe thinking the game was done and London punished us for that.”
