Reece Dean was delighted to sign permanently with the Dons after agreeing a deal which will keep him at the club until at least the end of 2017.

The utility-back signed from Toronto Wolfpack and says knowing the club well was a big reason for his move to the Keepmoat Stadium.

“I’m buzzing to get some game time under my belt, I want to be back enjoying playing rugby league, I enjoyed my time here last season,” he said.

“Hopefully the time I spent here on dual-reg will help me to settle in quickly, I know a few players and I’ve played with the majority of them so I should be able to fit in.

“We’ve had a couple of good wins in the past few games, it will be tough to get in the side but once I get my chance I’ll do everything I can to take it.”

Dean’s switch to part-time rugby means that he has had to take up a job alongside his rugby league career, but he insists that won’t affect his performances for the Dons.

“I’ve had to get a new job, I’ve passed my exams to be a prison officer so I’ll be going into that, it’s flexible shifts so that will help to combine with my rugby as well,” he added.

“I like to play in the halves but I’ve played a bit at full-back so I’m happy to mix it up and play wherever needed.

“I need to get in the team first, and then there can only be one aim for us. Everyone involved wants to gain promotion so we’re all pulling in the same direction.”
