PREVIEW | Rawsthorne ready for Dons debut

9th June 2017

Nick Rawsthorne believes his Super League experience will prove to be key as he looks to help the Dons to their fourth consecutive win this weekend.

The outside-back has played a handful of games for Hull FC this season and joins the Dons as part of the dual-registration system between the two clubs.

Rawsthorne says playing at the top level has already developed him as a player and that is something he will be looking to show when the Dons take on Barrow Raiders on Sunday.

“I feel like I’ve been doing well and putting some good performances in for Hull so hopefully I can have a good game against Barrow,” he said.

“It’s been a great experience for me in Super League, it’s very different to what I’ve been used to so I think it’s developed me quickly.

“I feel like I’ve matured quite a lot as a player since my move to Hull, I think coming here can improve me even more and I want to put on a good display to help the team towards two points.”

The 21-year-old is expecting a tough physical challenge from Barrow, with the Cumbrian side currently second in Kingstone Press League One.

“Barrow are a good side, as are the Dons. It will be a physical test for us and hopefully our quality will show,” he added.

“They are second in the league and they’ve been performing really well, a lot of teams struggle against them so we’re expecting a very tough game.

“I’d like to play more than just the one game, I’d rather be here playing than waiting around on the side-lines as getting game time will really help me and hopefully help Doncaster as well.”
