Tom Carr believes the Dons can use the frustration from defeat against Newcastle as motivation when they face Oxford on Wednesday evening.

The Dons went down 20-10 at the Club Doncaster Sports Village and Carr says they must get back to winning ways soon if they are to have a realistic chance of reaching the Kingstone Press League One play-off places.

“We made too many errors and gifted the ball back to Newcastle and we need to cut that out if we are to get back to winning ways in the next couple of games,” he said.

“We had opportunities to play in good areas but a lot of our play was very dumb and we’re not taking our chances when they come along.

“Hopefully this is just a blip for us and we can get that out the way and start picking up points again, we need to kick on and get some results as we head towards the play-offs.”

Carr is himself easing his way back into action following a foot injury and says that the players will have to manage their bodies correctly to ensure they can cope with the fixture pile-up.

“I’m still getting back into it after breaking my foot, but I thought I did ok and felt good out there on the pitch,” he added.

“It’s crucial that we manage our bodies well ahead of the game on Wednesday, we’ll be in on Tuesday for a light session and then go again against Oxford.

“We know the areas where we need to improve and everybody is disappointed so we can use that as motivation now.”
