Doncaster Rugby League chief executive Carl Hall was humbled after joining a number of Dons players on Club Doncaster’s annual visit to the Children’s Ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Hall joined Kieran Cross, Jason Tali, Jordie Hedges and a number of Doncaster Rovers players in handing out gifts purchased thanks to donations of Club Doncaster staff based at the Keepmoat Stadium. Club Doncaster kit suppliers FBT also donated a number of presents.

He said: “The Christmas visit is a tradition dating back a decade now at Club Doncaster, and it is a really great but humbling experience to be able to spend time on the Children’s Ward.

“We got to meet some amazing children and young people who are going through a tough time, and it was a pleasure to be able to put some smiles back on faces by handing out gifts and spending a bit of time with them.

“The team who showed us round are clearly passionate about the fantastic work they do, and you could see the players were really touched by getting to meet these kids.”

Jane Morgan, assistant headteacher at the Trust’s Hospital School, guided the players around the Ward.

She said: “On behalf of the Trust I’d like to say a huge thank you to Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Rugby League for their generosity and taking time out of their busy schedule to visit the Hospital School and Children’s Wards at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

“It’s such a lovely thing to do, especially when children are in hospital over the Christmas period, they miss out on all the parties and other festivities either at school or at home. Having the players come in is such a special experience – providing them with a much needed boost when they are poorly at Christmas.”
