PREVIEW | Horne taking no chances

22nd February 2018

Richard Horne wants to keep momentum building as he prepares to name a strong squad for the visit of Myton Warriors in the Challenge Cup third round this weekend.

The Dons face the amateur side for the second season in a row at this stage in the competition, and Horne says he will be taking nothing for granted when naming the side.

He said: "We won't be making too many changes because we want to keep working on the combinations we've started to build, players are still learning each other's game so it's important we leave them out there.

"There are some players who need games and we'll change slight things but there won't be too many changes, we want to progress as far as we can in this competition.

"A cup run is great for any team, I wasn't here for the Leeds game last season but if we can emulate that then it will provide us with a nice distraction from the league campaign."

Horne believes Myton will travel to the Keepmoat Stadium with a nothing to fear mentality, particularly after scoring in their first set in the clash between the two sides last year.

He added: "Myton will be a tough challenge for us this weekend, they come into this game on the back of a couple of good results to start the league season so will be very confident of causing an upset.

"They showed what they are capable of last year scoring an early try, their head coach Tony Spence has been in the amateur game a long time and knows how to get his team ready for a game like this.

"We are expecting a real tough and physical test from Myton this weekend, our boys know that they will have to be on the top of our game to come away from it with progression through to the next round."

Tickets for the Challenge Cup third round tie against Myton are still available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at
