PREVIEW | Harris looking to build

24th February 2018

Liam Harris is looking to build on an opening game win against Coventry Bears with another success against Myton Warriors in the Challenge Cup this weekend.

Harris grabbed two tries in the win over the Bears, but says the main thing for him is managing games and ensuring the team are guided around the field.

He said: "I was pleased to get a couple of tries last week but I was happier with the amount I created and played in for other people, that's what my game is all about.

"We like to throw the ball about as that's the way Rich wants us to play, with the players we've got and the strike we have on the edge we will cause a lot of teams problems.

"I have to try and manage games, when you've got people like Hakim Miloudi alongside you who can be very unpredictable, the team needs somebody there who is going to dictate and lead the team around the field."

The half-back joined the club from Hull KR at the end of last season, and is enjoying being part of a new club - with a Challenge Cup run one of the targets for 2018.

He added: "I've really enjoyed my time here, I said when I first signed that playing under Richard Horne was a major factor in me coming here and he's already improving my game.

"We want to keep working on our combinations, whoever is playing in the halves it's important that you get to know different players and base your game on who is alongside you.

"From the club's perspective it's always the aim to get a big draw in the cup, there is money available when you play against a Super League team, that's what the game is all about and a good chance for us to test ourselves."

Tickets for the Challenge Cup third round tie against Myton are still available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at
