PREVIEW | Howden glad to be back

8th March 2018

Jordan Howden is happy to be back out on the field as he aims to put an injury-hit year with the Dons behind him.

The half-back made a try-scoring return in the Challenge Cup victory over Myton Warriors last month, and is now determined to string some performances together.

He said: "It made a massive difference waking up the next day and not feeling like I couldn't play the week after, I felt good the day after the Myton game and knew that I was capable of playing more often.

"Being able to be out on the field is massive. As much as the try helped me, in my position it's just as much about helping other people find the try-line. To get over the line myself was a bit of a bonus.

"It's massive for me to be able to string a few games together with all the competition we've got, Jack Miller is a good player and plays his game very similar to the way I do. We've got Liam Harris as well now who did really well for York last season and he's an exciting player to watch."

Howden says his family were his biggest supporters during his time out injured, and kept encouraging him throughout his long road to recovery.

He added: I was told before the operation that there was only a small chance that I would ever get back to playing at a good level of rugby league, it was in the back of my mind whether I was ever going to play again.

"My family got behind me massively and that helped me to kick on with my recovery, they have supported me since I was younger and come to every game no matter where we play.

"I know now that I can do anything and that's a massive mental thing for me, you're always learning and it made me grow up a lot. I'm only 21 and having to worry about so much made me mature and it's made me a better person."

Tickets for the game against Whitehaven are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at
