The Dons produced another hard fought display to earn their fourth league victory of the 2018 campaign, with a 28-20 win over North Wales Crusaders at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Richard Horne made three changes to his side with Hakim Miloudi, Ryan Boyle and Jason Muranka all coming into the starting XIII.

It was the visitors who had the majority of the play early on, with several attacking sets but they couldn't find a way through a resolute Dons defence.

The Dons made them pay for their missed opportunities after 13 minutes, when Brandan Wilkinson got on the end of a flowing move to go over for his first try of the season. Miloudi added the extras for 6-0.

North Wales centre Kenneth Baker could have had two first-half tries, but was halted in his tracks firstly by a forward pass, and then a foot in touch as he made his way towards the line.

The visitors were not waiting too long for their first try though and were on the board with half an hour gone, Jordan Case got on the end of a break from Ryan Smith and raced 20 metres to score. Tommy Johnson levelled the scores with the conversion.

North Wales went in front just two minutes before half-time. They were awarded a penalty 30 metres out and chose to go for goal, with Johnson dispatching the kick comfortably between the posts for 6-8.

The Dons made the perfect start to the second-half and regained the lead just two minutes after the break, prop-forward Connor Scott muscled his way through the line and had enough time to dart over the line. Miloudi converted with ease for 12-8.

They extended the lead soon after, as Harris supplied the pass to Tali in space, and the Papua New Guinea centre had too much power for two North Wales defender as he forced his way over.

The Crusaders responded and Case was the man to profit once again, he went through a gap in the Dons' line to score, and had enough awareness to improve the angle of the try. Johnson converted to reduce the deficit further.

The Dons then took control of the game as they looked to post more points, the pressure paid off when a perfectly weighted kick from Miloudi found Richard Owen on the wing to score.

Brad England, who was sinbinned late on for a high tackle, went over for the Dons' fifth try with a quarter of an hour remaining, as he danced his way through some tiring North Wales defence.

North Wales scored the final try of the game but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation, as Baker worked his way into space down the left to touch down.
