REACTION | Wilkinson happy to score

9th April 2018

Brandan Wilkinson was pleased to cross for his first Dons try in the 28-20 win over North Wales Crusaders in Betfred League One.

Wilkinson put the Dons in front at the Keepmoat Stadium, and was happy to play his part in the team returning to the top of the table.

He said: "It was really good to get another win and to get over for my first try makes it even more pleasing, we wanted to show a response after the York game.

"I've took some stick from a few of the lads for not scoring when we've been putting some big scores on teams, but I'm just happy to contribute in anyway I can.

"It's much easier to get into a position where you can score a try when you're playing on the edge, that worked in my favour when the chance came."

Wilkinson has only missed one of the Dons' opening seven games in all competitions, and has been impressed with the start the team has made.

He added: "It's very pleasing to go back to the top of the league, the aim at this club is to be pushing for promotion to the Championship so we're off to a good start.

"I played in the back-row when I was younger so it is a position I'm comfortable with, I know the coach wants me to be flexible so hopefully I did enough to impress.

"North Wales came to play and wanted to impress the new coach, at half-time we had a few honest words and showed what we can do with the tries in the second half."

The Dons return to the Keepmoat Stadium to take on Hemel Stags on Sunday April 15, you can purchase tickets from the Club Doncaster Box Office, on 01302 762576 or at
