Ryan Boyle says the Dons need to come up with a positive reaction after being beaten 34-6 by Workington in Betfred League One.

Four first-half tries did the damage in Cumbria, and Boyle believes going back to basics on the field could be the key to getting back to winning ways.

He said: "It was a tough day for us, it's the same problems the keep hurting us and we need to cut them out if we are going to climb the table.

"We had a lot of defending to do and eventually the pressure told, you can't win games if you're completing at 50 per cent so that needs to be looked at.

"We're training well all week but then struggling to back it up on game day, we can't keep doing that because were not giving ourselves a chance."

With a tough month coming up, Boyle is hoping the Dons fans continue to get behind the team as they look to put a run of positive results together.

He added: "We've spoken for a while about building momentum and starting games well, we pride ourselves on being hard to beat and we have a tough few weeks coming up.

"The fans were great and it's a long way to come, we owe them a performance now and hopefully we can show that at Bradford next week."
