Richard Horne praised his side’s patience after they hammered West Wales Raiders 102-6 in Betfred League One.

The Dons had to wait eight minutes for their first try of the game, but then went in a further 17 times to score over 100 points for the first time in the club’s history.

He said: “We spoke before the game about improving our points-difference and we’ve managed to do that significantly.

“Towards the end of the season it is always going to be important so the message at half-time was to keep creating chances and make sure we were clinical with them.

“We didn’t want to force things and could hit the deck and go again on the next play, we were very patient even when we were on the front foot.”

With games coming up against Hunslet and Oldham, Horne was pleased to get players out on the field who needed game-time.

He added: “More than anything it was making sure people spent plenty of time out there, Frankie Mariano has just come back from injury and managed a full 80 which will help him.

“Selection is tough going into any game, we haven’t got a big squad but I believe there is plenty of quality and belief in there.

“If we play at a quick pace then we’re hard to deal with, when you have big middles and the likes of Jez Litten coming off the bench we can cause teams problems.”
