REACTION | Doherty: We're building momentum

31st July 2018

Sam Doherty feels the Dons are starting to build some momentum as they head into the latter stages of the Betfred League One regular season.

Doherty scored in the 26-22 win against Oldham on Sunday, and says that victory was a sign of their intent.

He said: “We had to grind it out at the end and thankfully we got the win, Oldham are a good side but we showed our quality.

“It’s great that we’re starting to get in the mix again because we were struggling a few games ago, but now we’ve hit some form.

“We knew we had the better of them and it was just about executing our play, fortunately we managed to score a couple of tries early in the second-half.”

The Dons have beaten two play-off chasing sides in Hunslet and Oldham in recent weeks, and Doherty believes the squad are progressing nicely.

He added: “It’s a nice wide pitch at the Keepmoat and we dealt with Oldham well, they couldn’t break us down for most of the game.

“We just want to keep winning games and see where it takes us, we’re taking it one game at a time as that’s what has got us to where we are.

“We haven’t made too many changes to our squad for each game, but the players that have come in have done a really good job.”
