Betfred League One

The Dons made it four wins in a row in Betfred League One with a comfortable 46–4 victory over Coventry Bears at Butts Park Arena.

Richard Horne made four changes to his starting XIII, with Richard Owen, Connor Bower, Russ Spiers and Jason Muranka all coming into the line-up.

The Dons scored the opening try of the game after eight minutes, as Sam Doherty broke down the right before finding Jordan Howden on the inside to score under the posts. Matty Beharrell converted for 6-0.

They went further in front six minutes later, as a break from Jason Tali eventually saw the ball shifted to Richard Owen who raced over from 30 metres out.

Connor Bower then marked his return to the side with a try, as he found himself in aches of space to latch onto Howden’s pass and score. Beharrell converted for 16-0.

Richard Horne’s side were in complete control and scored their fourth try with a quarter of the game gone, as Beharrell put Frankie Mariano through a gap to cruise over.

Aaron Jones-Bishop was the next man to profit, as he got on the end of an offload from Tali to finish expertly in the corner under pressure from the Coventry defence.

They added to their lead five minutes before the break, as skipper Ryan Boyle collected the ball close to the line before showing late footwork and forcing his way over. Beharrell added the two for 30-0.

HALF-TIME | Coventry Bears 0–30 Doncaster RLFC

Coventry began to show a response after the interval and had their first try of the game on 47 minutes when Mikey Russell broke through a gap down the right to score.

The Dons then twice came close to extending their lead, with the bounce of the ball preventing Jones-Bishop and Doherty from scoring on separate occasions.

They went over for their first try of the second-half with 19 minutes remaining, as a nice pass from Howden put Bower through a gap for his second. Beharrell added the extras for 36-4.

A brilliant 40/20 from Howden then put the Dons in a great position, and they took full advantage as Russ Spiers powered his way over after brushing off two Coventry defenders.

Brad England rounded off the scoring with two minutes left, as he went through a huge gap in the line to put the ball down.
