Richard Horne felt his side did enough to get the job done after beating North Wales Crusaders 36-12 at Queensway Stadium.

The victory secured a third-placed finish in Betfred League One, which also guarantees Horne’s side a home tie in the play-off semi-finals.

He said: “It’s great that we’ve managed to secured third with one game to go, it takes the pressure of us ahead of the final league game.

“Everyone can see how well we play down at the Keepmoat so it was a big target for us to secure the home tie as early as possible.

“The pressure is off us now and we can enjoy the last league game, we will enjoy it and make sure we’re ready for the play-offs.

Horne rested the likes of Brad England and Matty Beharrell for the game in Wrexham, and he was pleased with the performances of the players that came in to the side.

He added: “We looked comfortable once we got our first couple of tries, the try from Rich Owen just before half-time game us some breathing space.

“We wanted to rest a couple of boys, they were both a bit sore and I thought I could give them a break and a weekend off.

“At times we could have done with them to give us that cutting edge, but they’ll be back in contention for the Workington game.”
