PREVIEW | Horne wants improvement against Leeds

11th January 2019

Richard Horne is backing his side to improve in their pre-season friendly with Leeds Rhinos on Sunday.

The game will be the second of three against Super League opposition for the Dons, and the head coach is expecting a stronger performance than the one against Hull FC last weekend.

He said: “It will be a similar test to the Hull game, they are a quick outfit so we know we need to be better with our overall play.

“You can learn a lot from a game like that, they were 10 weeks in to their pre-season programme compared to our four so we’re still playing catch up.

“A lot of players who did well against us last weekend will be available to us throughout the season, and that is a good option to have.”

With the Betfred League One season just over a month away, Horne wants his players to play their way into his thoughts for the trip to Newcastle Thunder on February 16.

He added: “It’s a massive incentive and everyone is striving to be involved, we’ve got the link with Hull FC that we can use to strengthen us.

“I’m looking for people to stand up and put themselves in the frame for the first league game, particularly in the middle unit.”

Tickets for the game against Leeds are available from the Club Doncaster Box Office or from, there are NO cash gates on the day of the game.
