Connor Bower says the Dons showed good team spirit to beat Batley Bulldogs in the Coral Challenge Cup fifth round.

The centre opened the scoring in the 16-12 victory, and felt their never say die attitude paid off.

He said: “We fancied our chances even though we knew how good a side they are, we made it all about us from minute one.

“The boys all worked for each other and never gave up, I think we deserved the result for the way we kept going.

“We’ve had a few injuries and had a lot of boys out so we’ve been doing it tough, but the lads who have come in have been outstanding.”

With eight tries to his name already this season, Bower is looking to keep on adding to his tally with a big game against Keighley Cougars on Good Friday.

He added: “Things are coming off for me in terms of try-scoring at the minute, Jordie Hedges has put the kick up for me and I’ve timed the jump right.

“Having those good players around me means I know if I get in the right positons then the tries are there for the taking.”
