Richard Horne was proud of his players’ efforts in the defeat to Catalans Dragons in the Coral Challenge Cup sixth round.

Horne’s side were beaten 62-6 in the south of France, but he felt they gave everything throughout the 80 minutes.

He said: “We put so much effort into our first-half performance and that probably showed as the second-half went on.

“To only be 12 points behind at the break was a good achievement and I’m really proud of the boys, they turned up for each other and worked hard.

“The past two weeks have been a build up for our next league game, and we can take plenty from the performance.”

With a tough league game against London Skolars next up, Horne is hoping to take the positives from their performance against the Dragons.

He added: “Our league form hasn’t been as good as we would have liked so far this season, so now it’s about building momentum for us.

“Hopefully the boys will learn and take heart from the way they applied themselves against a really good side.”
