Rangi Chase says he has worked hard on preparing himself to make his Dons debut against Whitehaven this weekend.

The half-back is in line to make his first appearance for the club after signing in May, and is excited to get started.

He said: “I can’t wait, it’s been a while and I couldn’t sleep thinking about it but now I’ve calmed down and I’m ready to go.

“It’s hit me over the past few days knowing that my first game back was just around the corner, it doesn’t seem real.

“I’ve had a couple of months’ worth of hard training, and I feel like that has made sure I’m ready to play.”

With hard training combined with a strict diet, Chase believes he can have an impact on the side in the latter stages of the season.

He added: “I’ve had to change things because I was out of shape when I signed, now I’m in good condition after plenty of work in the gym.

“I had a lot of training on my own, I took it upon myself to eat right and train hard so now it’s just about settling into the team.

“We’re going up against top of the league and that will be a big test, there is no better way to make your debut than against one of the best teams in the league.”
