REACTION | Horne pleased with defensive effort

Richard Horne was pleased with the Dons’ solid defence after they beat North Wales Crusaders in Betfred League One.

The 30-0 victory at Queensway Stadium was the fourth time the Dons have kept a team scoreless this season, and Horne says they showed great determination not to concede.

He said: “We had a spell before half-time where we had 26 tackles on our line and we scrambled really well for each other.

“It wasn’t perfect but because of the desire and the willingness to defend we stopped them from scoring which was pleasing.

“When it comes to the play-off games things will be tight so we’ve managed to keep them out and put ourselves back in the mix.”

With two weekends without a game coming up, Horne says he hopes to have more players returning from injury ahead of the game against London Skolars on August 11.

He added: “We’ve got a bit of a break now so we asked them to give everything, we know now that London are next as another team we want to pull away from.

“We’re making constant changes which doesn’t help with our consistency, we’re due to get a couple back for the London game which is a bonus heading into the play-offs."
