NEWS | Horne: break used wisely

6th August 2019

Richard Horne is hoping a long break between games will see his side end the regular Betfred League One season strongly.

The Dons have had two weekends in succession without a fixture after beating North Wales Crusaders 30-0 on July 21.

He said: “We gave the boys a bit of time off to relax and recover, it was an opportunity to freshen up a bit before coming back in for the second week.

“It’s a stage of the season now where we’re starting to get bodies back, Frankie Mariano and Watson Boas aren’t far away and having those two back will be a massive boost for us.

“It’s always important to give the boys a rest whenever we can, especially given that we’re coming towards a crucial set of games.”

After the addition of winger Tom Halliday on a permanent deal until the end of 2019, Horne was pleased to secure his services.

He added: “Tom showed some glimpses of what he is capable of when he came down here and finished off some really nice tries.

“He has come from a rugby union background so still has a fair bit to learn but the potential is definitely there with him.”
