Doncaster RLFC will once again celebrate the memory of Liam Maughan at the final home game of the 2019 Betfred League One season with Keighley Cougars.

Rifleman Liam tragically died from wounds received as a result of small arms fire which occurred near Sangin, in Helmand Province, during the morning of Saturday March 6 2010 whilst serving the country.

The Dons have paid tribute to Liam by holding a game in his honour in every year since his passing, with a minute’s applause to take place before kick-off on Sunday.

The applause will also be dedicated to former Dons player Steve Booth who recently passed away at the age of 42. Booth starred in 19 games during the 2000 season, playing alongside Carl Hall and scored 19 tries, kicking 36 goals and notched up 150 points in one full season.

Chief executive Carl Hall said: “It’s has now become tradition that we celebrate Liam’s life and welcome his family as we remember him at our final home game of the season. This year will be no different as we are going bigger and better with our pre and post-match entertainment.

“It will also be an honour to remember my former teammate Steve Booth who triadically passed recently. During his season here Steve was brilliant, you could tell he was going to be star and his stats and career speak for itself. I was just as shocked as everyone when I heard the news, it will be an honour to remember Steve in the best way possible on Sunday.”

Tickets for the visit of Keighley Cougars are available to purchase from the Club Doncaster Box Office on 01302 762576, or via
