PREVIEW | Horne: focus on securing fifth

30th August 2019

Richard Horne says his players are fully focused on trying to secure a fifth-placed finish in Betfred League One.

The Dons take on Keighley Cougars this weekend knowing a win could secure a home play-off tie - depending on results elsewhere.

He said: “It’s really important that we look to secure that, we’ve had a good break since the Oldham game and provided some tough sessions.

“We got a lot out of it and found some areas where we know we need to be better, and now it’s a case of looking forward to the weekend.”

After defeat at Cougar Park on Good Friday, Horne is looking for a strong performance on home soil.

He added: “They’ve got some talented players in there that will create if you give them a chance to do so, their middles defend and carry with energy which provides a test itself.

“The thing that has prevented them from climbing the table further is probably not being able to do it on a more consistent basis.

“It’s important that we start well, and maintain the level of intensity throughout the game to make sure we get the result.”
