The Dons go up against Keighley Cougars in their final home game of the regular season in Betfred League One this weekend.

Having secured a play-off place, Richard Horne’s side are now looking to secure a home tie by finishing in fifth place.

The Cougars began the season on -12 points, but started the campaign well and without the deduction would have been chasing a play-off place themselves.

Who’s the gaffer?

Former Dons coach Rhys Lovegrove earlier this season after the departure of Craig Lingard. The former Hull KR and London Broncos prop forward was part of the coaching staff at the Dons under both Gary Thornton and Richard Horne.

Ones to watch

Will Cooke

The centre joined Keighley from fellow Betfred League One side Hunslet at the end of the 2018 campaign. After two spells within the Castleford Tigers youth system, Cooke spent a year with now defunct side Oxford, before a spell in rugby union. He has started life at Keighley well and become a key part of their side in 2019.

Benn Hardcastle

The influential half-back joined Keighley ahead of the 2018 season after five seasons with Newcastle Thunder. During his time in the north-east, Hardcastle became the club’s highest point-scorer, which lead to interest from several clubs before his move to Cougar Park came.

Jack Miller –

A man who will need no introduction to Dons fans, Miller spent two full seasons with the club before signing for Keighley ahead of the current campaign. Jack’s dad Tony also played for and coached the Dons, which will add even more to the occasion for the Miller family.

Last time out

The Dons fell to defeat at Cougar Park on Good Friday despite two tries from centre Jason Tali. Richard Horne’s side went in at the break 18-12 to the good, but a dominant second-half display from the Cougars saw them run out 26-18 winners.
