Richard Horne says his side must recover quickly from defeat at Oldham in the Betfred League One play-offs.

The Dons were beaten 22-12 at the Vestacare Stadium, and the head coach says they will learn from the performance.

He said: “We made too many errors and that put the pressure on and meant we had a lot of defending to do.

“Once that starts to happen more regularly we struggled to get going in attack because a lot of energy had been taken out of us.

“If we fix that up then we’ll be where we want to be, we didn’t get opened up too often and it was a couple of kicks through that did the damage.”

The Dons now return to Newcastle this weekend for the preliminary final, a place where they started their play-off campaign with a 20-6 victory.

Horne added: “Although it’s not the way we wanted to reach the final we know that we have to go to Newcastle and get a result.

“It’s our second bite of the cherry and one we need to take, the result up there last time was a good one but we’ll need to be just as good this time around.”
