Dons star Watson Boas has been named at half-back in the Papua New Guinea team to take on the Great Britain Lions this weekend.

Boas scored in last weekend’s Oceania Cup defeat to Fiji in Christchurch, and retains his place for the game against Wayne Bennett’s side.

The 25-year-old signed permanently for the Dons last month after a successful loan spell in 2019.

Dons chief executive Carl Hall said: “Watson’s performances for his country over the past few weeks have shown just how much quality he will bring to the Dons in 2020.

“He is a key player for PNG and it will be good for him to showcase his talents against Great Britain on Saturday.

“Hopefully Dons fans will tune in and watch him go up against some of the best players from Super League and the NRL.”

Coverage of Saturday’s game will start at 7am GMT live on BBC Two, with kick-off at 7:30.
