Kieran Cross scores hat-trick as seven-try Doncaster down Gloucestershire

January signing Kieran Cross bagged a hat-trick of tries as Doncaster recorded a comfortable 40-8 victory over Gloucestershire in their opening Kingstone Press League 1 game of the season at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The Dons, who were relegated from the Championship last term, got off to a strong start with Louis Sheriff, Cross with his first and Kirk Yeaman crossing over in the first half as Tom Carr added the extras to give them a 16-0 lead.

The All Golds attempted a comeback with scores from Phil Cowburn and Jamie Murphy within the first 18 minutes after the break to halve the deficit.

But 21-year-old hooker Cross added a brace within five minutes and late tries from Liam Welham and David Foggin-Johnstone put the score beyond doubt.
