NEWS | Johnson delighted with winning try

Liam Johnson was pleased to play a key part in the Dons’ victory over Coventry Bears in Betfred League One.

The back-rower scored what turned out to be the winning try as the Dons made it three straight wins on home soil.

On his try:

“On a personal level I felt I’d made up for a couple of errors by scoring the try that got us the win.

“The boys dug in and I thought given the way we stood up and kept going we deserved the win.

“I got into a decent position and fortunately the ball bounced nicely for me and I put it down.”

On building momentum:

“We went through a bit of a tough spell but we’ve shown in the last few weeks that we can beat anyone on our day.

“Getting those victories heading into the play-offs has given us a lot of confidence.

“We’ve got players capable of coming in and doing a good job, we’ve got a good team spirit and we bounce off each other.”
