Betfred League 1 Promotion Play-Offs – Schedule

The schedule for the Betfred League One promotion play-offs has been confirmed – with all six games to be streamed live and free of charge to Our League members, starting this weekend and building to the final on Sunday October 10.

With Barrow Raiders having confirmed the first of the two promotion places to the 2022 Betfred Championship as they clinched the League One title at the weekend, the teams finishing second to sixth in the table will now contest the promotion play-offs.

The action starts on Saturday September 18 at 6.30pm when North Wales Crusaders, who finished third, have home advantage against the fourth-placed Keighley Cougars in the qualifying play-off.

Then on Sunday September 19 at 4pm, there will be no second chances for the Dons or Hunslet, who finished fifth and sixth respectively, and clash in the elimination play-off at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Workington Town receive a bye through the first weekend as their reward for finishing second in the table, and they will then host the winners of the qualifying play-off – North Wales or Keighley – in the qualifying semi-final on Sunday September 26 (2pm kick-off), with the winners taking the direct route to the final, and securing home advantage in it.

Also that weekend, the losers of the qualifying play-off – North Wales or Keighley – will have home advantage against the winners of the elimination play-off – the Dons or Hunslet. Details of that fixture will be confirmed in the coming days.

The winners of that game will then travel to the losers of the qualifying semi-final on the afternoon of Sunday October 3 (kick-off to be confirmed), to battle for the second place in the Betfred League One promotion play-off final the following week.

The final will be played on the home ground of the winners of the qualifying semi-final with a 1pm kick-off – taking its place in an action-packed weekend of Rugby League which also includes the Betfred Super League Grand Final at Old Trafford on Saturday October 9, the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final at the Emerald Headingley Stadium on Sunday from 3pm, and the Million Pound Game to determine promotion to the 2022 Super League from 6pm.

(The higher-ranked club will be determined by league placings unless those rankings have been reversed by a previous play-off result – meaning that if Keighley win at North Wales in the qualifying play-off this weekend, they would overtake the Crusaders in the rankings).
