NEWS | Horne: we're ready for the play-offs

Richard Horne spoke to the media ahead of the crucial Elimination play-off against Hunslet this weekend.

The two sides meet knowing that a win would see them face either North Wales Crusaders or Keighley a week later.

On preparing for knockout rugby:

“We’re doing it the hard way from fifth, but you have to beat everyone to win promotion.

“When the pressure has been on us we’ve come up with the goods, so that is what we’re hoping for this weekend.

“You don’t get any easy games at this stage of the season, all four teams are in the play-offs on merit.”

On what he expects from Hunslet:

“Both sides have been performing well recently, and I think whichever team wins at the weekend has a great chance of going up.

“They’ve made progress under their new head coach since making the change and he’s made them more resilient.

“You can see they have that fight in them and they’ve come from behind recently to get results.”

On preparing his players:

“It’s a grand-final every week, we don’t have the second chance so we know exactly what we have to do.

“We’ve had a good week and the game-plan is set, as staff we’ve put the plans in place and now it’s down to the boys.

“There is no coincidence that teams that have high completion rates go on and get a result.

“We’ve spoken about doing the basics right and not giving anything away throughout the game.”
